Dear Families,
It's hard to believe, but the last week of school is here. Tomorrow will be mostly business as usual as far as finishing up academic subjects. We will be on a slightly different schedule Tuesday since many students are going to the Oaks Park celebration for safety patrols. After that, we'll have a flurry of events like the talent show, field day and picnic/promotion. We'll intersperse with finishing up our last read-aloud, "Holes", and watching the movie, cleaning out lockers and the classroom and fitting in our last walking field trip to Mike's.
Just a reminder about our last day festivities: On Friday, June 5 at 11 a.m. we will walk to Kenton Park for our end-of-year picnic. Immediate family members of 5th grade students are welcome to attend. The planned menu is hot dogs, pork ribs, corn on the cob, chips, sodas, water, and cookies/dessert. If you would, please RSVP to let me know how many people are in your party. We will be taking the 4th graders to the park with us (this will also be their year-end party) so if there are any 4th grade parents that would like to chaperone, that would be great. Please let me know.
After the picnic, we will have the promotion ceremony in the cafeteria from 1-2 p.m. Again, we would like to keep this tradition limited to 5th grade families. Thanks for your understanding. Fifth graders will have the clap-out and be dismissed to their families from the front porch. Fourth graders will be dismissed at the usual time.
Below are some photos of kids working on an engineering problem during our JA Career Day. It was fun and the kids did a great job!
Thanks for entrusting your child to me,
Trevor
This Week's Spotlight Student:
In an effort to build community and learn more about each other, each week one student will be randomly selected to be our "Spotlight Student."
The spotlight student will bring home and fill out a special worksheet about themselves. This student is also welcome to bring in 2 favorite items from home that represent their identity/culture (please avoid technology or other expensive objects).
At Morning Circle on Wednesday, our Spotlight Student will:
