McDaniel Mariachi

The McDaniel Mariachi Band, and its feeder program at Roseway Heights Middle School, is the only Mariachi program in Portland Public Schools. Ms. Adams-Brown began it in 2014 at Scott K-8, then moved it to Roseway Heights Middle School in 2018. In 2022, she was able to add it to McDaniel High School as well. 

McDaniel Mariachi students in 9th-12th grades learn instrumental and singing technique, musical skills, and mariachi style. The group works together as a team. 

The Mariachi Band performs at concerts, festivals, and school/community events. Every other year, the group tours with the Concert Choir. In 2023 they toured to Seattle.
