2020-2021 Welcome Letter

Welcome to the 20-21 School Year and thank you for visiting our website! Below you will find our annual welcome letter. As we navigate these challenging times, we are committed to supporting the wellness of Ainsworth students and their families.

As school counselors we support students in many ways, for example visiting classrooms, running assemblies, and teaching lessons and small groups. While we miss seeing your children in person, we are excited to join their online classes to teach SEL (social emotional learning) lessons and small counseling groups this year. We will continue to provide your families with helpful information and resources during this extended closure and beyond. Please explore our website, and check back often for updates.

We know all of our families are facing intense and varied challenges related to Covid-19, distance learning, financial burdens, and the local fires. In addition to supporting your children, we are available to help you process your family's needs and access resources that may support you. You are not alone. At Ainsworth, we are in this together!

We are available to support you and your family in many ways:

Ainsworth Counseling Program

We are the school counselors at Ainsworth Elementary. We support the students through school-wide events, social emotional learning (SEL) lessons, small groups, and individual planning. We are supportive partners with families, and work closely to help meet any needs that our students have. We hope this site helps you access some of the resources our school provides. Please visit the resource pages for students, parents, or teachers. Keep up to date with our weekly newsletter or place a request for me to meet with a student.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Ainsworth Elementary School Counseling Program is to help all students develop skills and mindsets that will help them grow as learners, friends, and global citizens. We focus not only on the individual student, but on our community as a whole with special attention paid to equitable practices and social justice. We work with students in three domains: the social-emotional domain, the academic domain, and the career domain. We strive to help students understand who they are, who they want to become, and how navigate the social and academic world in which they live.

The Ainsworth Elementary School Counseling Program does not discriminate on the basis of a person’s color, sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law.
