Lexia Core 5 is an online, personalized literacy program for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. It includes instruction in the six areas of reading, targeting skill gaps as they emerge. Portland Public Schools is using it as a supplement to their literacy curriculum.
It is recommended that students work on Lexia for a total of 60 minutes per week during asynchronous learning time.
Students should work on Lexia independently, except for technical support. For example, if they need help clicking and dragging, parents can support them in that. Parents should not guide students to the correct answers. This would throw off the program’s assessment of your child’s independent level.
This can be done from any desktop, laptop, or chrome-based tablet -- smartphone access is possible but not recommended.
