Pre-K: Go on a Bear Hunt! Act out all the movements and sing along. Where else could you go on your bear hunt? Create your own movmenet for this place. I would go through the desert and take large steps through the sand!
Kindergarten: Listen to the song Friendship - move only your arms ad hands while standing in front of a mirror. Notice how your reflection moves with you. Try mirroring with someone in your house. One person moves their arms and hands to the music while the other person plays the part of the reflection, following every move. Be sure not to move too fast or it may be hard for the other person to follow you!
First Grade: Keep a music listening log! You can fill out "My Music Listening Log" below or you can draw a picture to describe the music you have been listening to.
If you'd like something new to listen to, listen to Aquarium from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns

Pre-K: Listen to "I Bought Me A Cat." Try to keep the beat by patting your knees. Sing along when you're ready! Think about the animal sounds in the song. Do those animals really make those sounds? Why might they be making different sounds?
Kindergarten: Use body percussion (clapping, snapping, patting, and stomping) to keep the beat in this fun classical song! Concerto Grosso in C Major, Op. 6, No. 10: II. Allemanda: Allegro
First Grade: Listen to In The Hall of The Mountain King. Move your feet to the beat. First walk to the beat; the song gets faster so try to keep up! Next, tip toe to the beat. Create your own way to move to the beat (examples: crawl, jump, or skip).
All Grades: March to "You're a Grand Old Flag" and try to sing along! Have fun!
All Grades: Listen to This Land is Your Land and explore different ways to keep the beat. You can pat your knees, clap you hands, tap your feet, etc. Have fun!
Pre-K: Dance along to Dinosaur Stomp
Kindergarten and First Grade: Listen to Suite & Dances. Notice the music sounds different throughout the song. Keep the beat by clapping and when the music sounds different, switch to patting your legs. Go back and forth between the two body percussions (clapping and patting) every time the music sounds different.
All Grades: Dance and sing along to Boom Chicka Boom Summer. After, think about your favorite summer activity and create your own movement to match the activity. For example, I love jumping on a trampoline, for my movement I will jump up and down. What activity and movement did you create?
