About Camp & Coach
Camp
When Coach Powers was growing up one of his greatest memories was attending the Syracuse University overnight basketball camp. At that camp he learned a great deal about the game, built long lasting friendships and grew as a player. The Coach Powers Basketball camp will be designed like the camp he loved as a kid. He will use his knowledge and experience to provide a skills based, instructional camp that will focus on improving players overall fundamentals. This will not be an exposure camp! This is a camp to work on your game and grow as a player. Our camp is geared towards players ages 10-18 (rising -5th - 12th graders). Camp will be held on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Players will get 3 meals a day in the campus dining hall and they will stay in the dorms.
Coach Powers
Coach Justin Powers has been coaching High School basketball for over 20 years. After playing college basketball he started his coaching career in Fairfax County at South County HS and Robinson HS. He then became the head coach at Freedom High School in South Riding. Coach Powers has been named coach of the year 3 times and finished as the school’s all-time winningest coach. Following his 8 years at Freedom, Coach Powers moved on to open Gainesville High School which opened in 2022. At Gainesville in their second and third seasons in existence they won 17 games and qualified for Regionals in both years.
