Second Step Classroom Lessons

Each week of the school year, every Valley classroom is led in a 20-30 minute classroom lesson, following the Second Step curriculum. Second Step is a program rooted in social-emotional learning that helps transform schools into supportive, successful learning environments uniqely equipped to help children thrive. Lessons at Valley are led by a member of the counseling team, and are grade-level specific.

During this time of distance learning, we recognize that social-emotional learning is more important than ever. Each week, the counseling team will be providing digital Second Step lessons, covering the same material that would have been covered in the clasroom. Additionally, the Committee for Children, the nonprofit organization that created the Second Step program, has made many of their wonderful resources available for free during this time. If you would like any additional resources to supplement the content covered in Second Step lessons, please let us know.
