Student Support Specialist
Ms. Katie
Hi everyone! My name is Katie Newsome, and I am excited to be joining the team at D39!
I am originally from Chicago, Illinois but have lived in San Diego since 2005. Prior to joining D39, I served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman where I was able to visit many countries and meet people from around the world.
I graduated with my degree in psychology in 2021 and after working in the corporate world for a little while, I decided to follow my true passion which is school counseling. I am currently studying to be a school counselor and will graduate in Spring 2025.
I have three kids, a dog, a cat, and a bearded dragon! In my free time I like to go camping, hang out with my family and create stained glass art when I can find the time. I am looking forward to meeting as many students as possible.
Fun facts about Ms. Katie:
I played softball for 10 years
I can wiggle my ears
My favorite candy is Reese's peanut butter cups
You can find me in the Collab Space (Room B205) in the middle school hallway Monday-Friday from 9:10am-12:10pm.
