ExtRACurricular and Community Service

Extra Curricular Activities

In order to achieve your goal of going to a 4-year college, you will need to do more than book work. Your outside classroom activities will be equally important to your progress and achievement of you goal. Look for things that you are interested in and plan to get involved, These can include sports, school clubs, church clubs, community clubs, leadership roles, and etc.. These must take place outside of the regular school day (after school/ weekends or during your lunch). You must complete 2 out of the 3 categories listed on your sheet.

Community service

Working in the community gives you invaluable experiences. The people you will meet and the satisfaction that will come from helping is a very good thing in your development as a student and as a citizen. Colleges know that there are experiences beyond the classroom that can prove to be valuable as those in the classroom. They will look for those well-rounded students for their college. It is time to start exploring areas in the community that will allow you to participate as a volunteer (Service is something you do to help others that you don't get paid for).
