Data is an essential component of the school counseling program, guiding efforts to address the academic, career, and social/emotional needs of all students. In addition to informing schoolwide initiatives, data is analyzed at the individual and small-group level to identify students who may require more frequent or intensive interventions. Examples of data sources include disciplinary referrals, attendance records, academic performance, assessment results, and behavioral screeners or referrals. Data is also used to measure the effectiveness of the comprehensive school counseling program, allowing counselors to reflect on their practices, make informed adjustments, and align programming with building-level school improvement goals.Â
