Currently, our local TX Workforce Vocational Rehabilitation (for students with a documented disability) counselor position is VACANT. Our temporary VR counselor is Alma Alvarez. You can reach her at 210-582-1731 OR 210-315-5269, alma.alvarez@twc.texas.gov. You can also reach out to the "VR counselor of the day" by calling 210-928-3185.
If you are interested in services, you can contact Alma Alvarez at the contact information above, OR complete the "Request to Receive Pre-Employment Transition Services, VR 1820 form (below), and email it to: leslie.dowdy@poteetisd.org . If you have questions, or need assistance, you can call Leslie Dowdy at: 830-251-2770 ext 2114.
You are also welcome to start the process on your own by going to: Start My VR, an online self-referral for services. Once you enter and submit your information, you should receive a confirmation request number, and a counselor with TX Workforce will contact you to discuss services.

Workforce Solutions Alamo Youth Empowerment Services Application
transition-services-twc.pdftransition-services-spanish-twc.pdfSummer Earn and Learn, also known as SEAL, provided through Texas Workforce Vocational Rehabilitation, is a paid summer work experience opportunity for students with disabilities:
5-8 weeks
20 hours per week
$10.50 per hour
Candidates for SEAL are students who can be independent on the job, with limited supports.
Students will be required to complete a 4-day virtual work readiness class via zoom, as well as upload an I-9 document (SS card, Drivers license, or Texas ID) **students who are under age 18 can use school ID card**
Upon completion of required steps, student will be contacted for a possible matching session with an employer.
