Step by Step Guide for New Faculty & Staff

Step 1: One Login

You should receive a communication from the Office of Information Technology (OIT) containing your username and initial password. One Login is our Single Sign-On (SSO) solution that serves as a portal to all of your available computer applications. If you did not receive this communication, please email helpdesk@massbay.edu or call 781-239-2440 to request your credentials.

Step 2: Email

Your MassBay account is the primary tool used for communication with the college and students. You should spend some time at the start ensuring you can successfully access your email account and learn about some of the most useful features.

Step 3: Bay Navigator

All employees will use Bay Navigator to check or modify personal information on file, enroll in the Emergency Message System, and upload COVID vaccination information. Additionally, Faculty will use Bay Navigator to enter student grades at midterm and at the end of each semester.

Step 4: Blackboard

Blackboard Learn (commonly referred to as "Blackboard") is our learning management system. Faculty will use it to provide class content, issue assignments, conduct tests and other class work. Staff may use Blackboard at times when participating in college service and Governance.

Step 5: Webex

Webex Meetings (Webex) is a cloud-based web and video conferencing tool that we use for remote delivery of classes, remote college meetings, remote office hours, etc.

Additional Information for Employees

All employees will have access to the Employee SharePoint site - this site is used for collaboration and to share the College policies. procedures, forms, and other information. From there, you will also have access to the Human Resources SharePoint site, which contains all relevant HR information, documents, and forms.

As a new employee, you are also required to complete a self-paced Security Awareness Training module online within your first month of employment. All employees may be periodically required to complete this training as a refresher.
