Who are the Owners of PAL?
Sofia P. & Vanessa L.
What is the history? ( How did PAL get started?)
P.A.L. is an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) agency that is owned and founded by BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) who have a combined 25+ years of ABA experience. The owners graduated from Columbia University's Teaching as Applied Behavior Analysis program with Masters degrees and PhD in ABA. P.A.L.'s owners worked in various capacities such as Teachers, Behavior Consultants, Behavior Technicians, Teaching assistants, Adjunct, Clinical Supervisors, and Assistant Directors. While working in the different roles both owners encountered and observed experiences both negative and positive. In terms of negative experiences they observed that sometimes employees were not being heard or were not given a safe place to feel like they could grow. The owners saw the importance of maintaining a positive work culture in order for high quality services to be delivered to the clients. They determined that some of the qualities of a positive work environment entail ensuring the interactions are positive, that there's room for employees to grow, there's integrity in the services being rendered, and a sense of community. With that being said, they desired to start an agency of their own. They started P.A.L. in order to create a space where both the employees and client/families can learn and grow through positive interactions. The owners are grateful that since the start of P.A.L., they have been able to uphold the integral qualities that allow an agency to have to maintain a positive learning experience.

B.F. Skinner
March 1904 - August 1990
Did You Know?
B.F Skinner is known as "The Father" of ABA. His work paved the way for the use of ABA in various settings, particularly in the treatment of Autism.
Skinner's theory of radical behaviorism focuses on the importance of a person's behavior and environmental factors in understanding their psychological state.
Skinner's research in operant conditioning demonstrated how behavior can be shaped by consequences. He created the operant conditioning chamber, also known as the Skinner Box to study operant conditioning.
Quotes from B.F. Skinner
"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten."
"We shouldn't teach great books; we should teach a love of reading."
"Teaching is the arrangement of contingencies to facilitate learning."
"The way positive reinforcement is carried out is more important than the amount".
