Laptops and internet hotspot devices will be made available for each household and employee via pick-up or delivery.
Students with devices from last spring can keep them throughout the school year.
Learning Platforms: PPS will rely on Google Classroom (grades 3-12) and Seesaw (PK-2) as primary online learning platforms.
Training & Support: If you need tech support, let your child’s teacher know. The teacher will inform the right personnel at the school to get you the help you need.
If you were not able to pick up a device during our scheduled school distribution, please let your teacher know. Your teacher will inform the right personnel at the school for this request.
All school-issued devices are on loan to each student. Those provided specifically for remote learning need to be returned once we resume regular sessions.
If your device is not working, please let your teacher know what is wrong with the device. Your teacher will inform the right personnel at the school for this request. Someone at the school will let you know when and where to exchange your device. You will need to bring the device along with a piece of paper with your child’s name, school, and ID.
Safety Protocol
Please observe safety protocol when exchanging the device. During the time scheduled for you, students or families will go to the main entrance of the school location where you’ve been assigned to go. (Freshmen Alley entrance at Portland High School). At locations with front drop-off zones, people in vehicles should pull into the drop-off zone and remain in their vehicle. If there is no front drop-off zone, or if the student/family is on foot, the student/family should approach the front entrance. If there is a line, students/families should form a queue maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet between people. No students/families will be admitted into the buildings.
A greeter will approach the student/family and work to identify the student; if the student did not bring a piece of paper with their identifying information, the greeter will collect that information and write it down. To maintain appropriate distancing guidelines, the greeter will indirectly collect the broken device, then indirectly deliver the replacement device (i.e. the device is placed on a table or cart, put in a box, etc.). In some situations, it may be necessary to directly collect and deliver the device. At all times, the greeter will follow safety guidelines by wearing gloves, washing/sanitizing hands as needed, and maintaining appropriate distances from other individuals.
If you need technical assistance, please let your teacher know. Your teacher will inform the right personnel at the school for this request.
