November is Maine Brassicas Month!

Look for Brassicas on this month's Menu

Brassicas are a hearty family of vegetables that can grow in all types of weather, including cooler weather. 

They are great raw, steamed, roasted, sautéed, pickled, and in soups!

Brassicas are a super source of vitamin C, A and K, potassium, and folic acid.

Some brassicas can grow very tall/large like this walking stick kale and this sapporo giant cabbage !

This month's menu will feature Cabbage from 

Green Meadow Farms in Mapleton, ME 

Green Meadow Farm is a 3rd generation farm located in Aroostook County. 

Their primary crop is potatoes and we are very excited to have their cabbage in the school lunches on November 1st and 17th!
