Alternative compensation system (Professional Learning Based Salary System) with salary advancement based on educator determined professional development not limited to advanced degrees or college courses.
Fifteen paid sick days for individual or family illness per year (accumulation to 183 days) with the availability of three of these days for personal use.
Up to 50 accumulated sick days paid on retirement to educators with ten years of service in Portland Public Schools.
Sick leave incentive – Up to 3 Discretionary Personal Days per year.
Option to join the Sick Bank with ability to borrow up to 90 paid sick days in the event of serious, long-term illness.
One paid leave day per year for a family educational event
One paid leave day for school graduation of spouse, son or daughter graduating from 12th grade or higher
Up to ten bereavement days (based on relationship) can be used during the course of the school year to settle estate related matters.
