Course Objective: This course is designed to engage students in the Italian language and culture. Throughout the year, we will be working together to strengthen our four basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Course Material Needed DAILY:
- A three-ring binder with paper.
- A folder with pockets
- Pen/Pencil
- Flashcards (blank)
- Optional: An Italian-English pocket Dictionary
Class Rules:
1) Please be on-time. If you will be tardy to class, please be prepared with a pass.
2) Be Prepared. Our course materials are needed on a daily basis.
3) Always be respectful to your teacher and to your fellow classmates.
4) Cellphones: Cellphones are only allowed for learning purposes when the teacher permits. Any other use of cellphones during the lesson is not permitted. Cellphones will be collected for the class period for Tests and Quizzes.
Attendance:
- If you are absent, please know that you are responsible for contacting myself or a classmate to make up the day’s assignments. An absence is not an excuse for incomplete assignments.
- If you are absent the day of a test or quiz, it must be made up within 1 week during a free period in the testing center. (In the library )
Homework:
- Homework will be checked the day after it is assigned. Homework can only be made up if it was assigned on a day the student was absent from class.
Grading: Quarterly grades will be determined by the following breakdown:
- Quizzes 40%
- Tests/Projects 30%
- Homework 15%
- Daily Participation 15%
Extra Help:
Extra help will be available after school every Tuesday and Thursday in room 302. Extra help will also be available by appointment.
