Italian 1A 2019-2020
Welcome back! My name is Signora O’Brien and I will be your Italian teacher for the year!
Course Objective: This course is designed to engage students in the Italian language and culture. Throughout the year, we will be working together to strengthen our four basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. At the end of the academic year, we will be taking a Final Exam to assess our knowledge of the material learned.
Course Material Needed DAILY:
- A three-ring binder with paper.
- A folder with pockets
- Pen/Pencil
- Flashcards (blank)/ or use of the Quizlet APP
- Optional: An Italian-English pocket Dictionary
Class Rules:
1) Please be on-time. If you will be tardy to class, please be prepared with a pass.
2) Be Prepared. Our course materials are needed on a daily basis.
3) Always be respectful to your teacher and to your fellow classmates.
4) Electronics: Cellphones are earbuds are NOT permitted in the classroom. Please leave them in your locker.
Attendance:
- If you are absent, please know that you are responsible for contacting myself or a classmate to make up the day’s assignments. An absence is not an excuse for incomplete assignments.
- If you are absent the day of a test or quiz, it must be made up within 1 week during a free period in the testing center. (In the library Upstairs)
Homework/Assessments:
- Homework will be checked the day after it is assigned. Homework can only be made up if it was assigned on a day the student was absent from class.
- If an assignment, including a test or quiz, is not made up within the week, it will become a zero.
Grading: Quarterly grades will be determined by the following breakdown:
- Quizzes 40%
- Tests/Projects 30%
- Homework 15%
- Daily Participation 15%
Extra Help:
