- Remove all jewelry when in the woodshop; rings, watches, or bracelets can get caught in the machines and cause accidents.
- NEVER carry tools in your pocket.
- Tools are designed for a specific purposes. Do not use them improperly.
- In case of a fire drill, listen to your instructor.
- Always get the teacher's permission before operating any machinery.
- Sawdust is slippery and should be cleaned up immediately.
- Never work with power tools when you are tired or in a rush.
- After using a machine, wait until the machine comes to a complete stop, before removing your project.
- Never use your hand to clean away loose metal, plastic, or wood chips.
- Eye protection is to be worn at all times while in the woodshop, to prevent injury to the eyes.
- Carry sharp tools and pointed tools next to your body with the point down.
- Before using a machine, make sure your project is properly clamped down.
- Everyone must help clean up the shop.
- Report any injuries, no matter how small, to the teacher immediately.
- Do not talk to anyone while using a machine. Distractions cause accidents.
- Cut wood has splinters and sharp edges, which can cause cuts and punctures.
- A metal edge can be as sharp as the tool that cut it.
