Amberly Family Update 11/3/23
Amberly Families,
Good evening and hopefully this message finds you well. Welcome to November! The first quarter of the school year is complete and the students have been learning and growing throughout. This time of year we have the routines figured out, along with having a consistent daily schedule that allows for students and staff alike to get right into learning. As we begin to look ahead to the winter weather, please be aware that all students go out for recess. Proper clothing is expected and touch base with the office if any clothing support is needed. Next week the building will be engaging in the Community Sharing Food Drive that supports the Portage Community Center. Below there's information on what can be brought in. Thanks in advance for providing what you are able. A huge thank you to our PTO for all they did to make our Trunk or Treat a success. We had a wonderful time seeing families last Friday evening attending this event. Progress Reports will be sent home on November 10th and you should have received conference sign up information from your child's teacher last week. Please remember to only sign up for one conference per family. We look forward to connecting with you all during this time.
A fun fact to share is that today we had our first experience with having multi grade groups getting together to learn about the monthly character traits. The intent behind this opportunity is to build community across grade levels and allow for students to interact with different teachers and classmates they aren't with on a daily basis. Classroom and specials teachers had groups come to their learning space, along with MTSS staff and paraprofessionals being dispersed to rooms. Our 5th graders helped with kindergarten students getting to and from their locations. Students will stay with the group they worked with today for the duration of their time at Amberly when we do these lessons. Our goal is to meet once a month and this opportunity will take the place of our character trait assemblies. Today students gathered to learn about Growth Mindset and come up with a name for their group. A big thank you to all staff for supporting this new initiative.
Have a great weekend!

Character Trait for the month of November: Growth Mindset
Winter is Coming! We are so fortunate to continue to partner with the Warm Kids Project here at Amberly. We have over 50 students who will be fitted with a new snow coat, boots, hat and gloves this year. We are also looking for additional gently used snow pants, snow coats, hats and gloves for students to use at recess or who have misplaced items throughout the year. If you have any of these items, please deliver them to the front office at your convenience starting next week through the month of November. Thank you in advance!
Looking Ahead...
Monday-Friday, November 6-10 - Community Sharing Food Drive
Wednesday, November 22- Friday, November 24 - Thanksgiving Break

Community Sharing Food Drive
Please check out the items that can be donated at Amberly from Nov. 6-10. PTA is doing Community Sharing differently this year. Students are to bring items to the front entrance as there will be two collection bins to put them in. They are posing a “Team Swifties” or “Team Football” challenge. Winner will be announced next Monday.
