3 DAY PROGRAMME

2 x Taught Days (April & June 2024)
1 x Placement Day (May or June 2024*)
*The placement day will take place between the taught days and may vary for each person on the course. 

Teaching is inspiring, challenging and as unique as each child you teach. You have the privilege of opening doors to learning and to inspiring a new generation of young people. Teaching is a great responsibility but a very rewarding one. No two days are ever the same and you will never be bored!


This FREE 3-day taster programme will enable you to gain the knowledge and experience to make the first steps into the teaching profession.

We will also be able to put you in touch with the relevant course tutors about how to enrol on a PGCE course or other route into the teaching profession. 


This programme is for students with an interest in any of the following PGCE subject areas (Primary, Secondary and/or FE teaching): Geography, Modern Foreign Language (MFL), English, Maths and Sciences.


The deadline to register is 09:00 on Thursday 25th April 2024.

With a placement day in-between.

There are 2 taught days (1 on campus, and 1 online via Zoom). There will also be 1 full day on placement in a local school or college, depending on the age range and subject you wish to teach. 


The aim of the whole 3 days is to give you a real flavour for what teaching is like and hopefully inspire and motivate you to join a teacher-training course at the University of Portsmouth.
