The ‘Solent Student Partners Programme’ is an initiative hosted by the Education Office at Solent University in Southampton. It aims to:
Support students to work in partnership with academic and professional service staff across the institution to enhance our provision.
Co-create and shape the practices at Solent University by valuing the diverse voices and perspectives of our students.
Enable students to gain valuable experience in which develops their confidence and skills to support their future employability.
Students from diverse backgrounds are recruited into paid 'Student Partner' roles to support a range of projects, across Departments and Services of the University, according to their skills and interests.
As an industry and employment-focussed higher education institution, Solent University recognises the need to support students in seeing the value of their experiences to the real-word. Our Living CV platform does this by translating Module and Course learning outcomes into relevant work competencies and skills. Importantly the Living CV is a live document that grows with students during their time at university, helping them articulate their learning into CV language. This helps students build a record of real-world skills across all levels of their studies to support their graduate careers.
In this poster presentation, we draw on the principles of the Living CV to articulate and showcase the collective experiences and skills developed by the Student Partners across multiple projects this academic year. It will provide an opportunity for conference delegates to hear about the wide variety of projects that our Student Partners are involved in and the ways that this supports their graduate employability. The poster will be developed and presented by the Solent Student Partners themselves.
