The Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) recognises and rewards collaborative work that has had a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning. Introduced in 2016, the scheme highlights the key role of teamwork in higher education.

A fantastic resource for CATE teams to help them reflect on the CATE criteria.
The question set has been developed by Dr Chrissi Nerantzi, NTF (University of Leeds), Dr Charles Buckley, NTF (University of Liverpool), Dr Deeba Parmar (Middlesex University), and Alex Walker (University of the Highlands and Islands).
Financial support was generously provided by the University of Aberystwyth for this project. These funds were used to work with students from the School of Art at Manchester Met who were selected via a competition. Artwork and design contributors: Man Met Foundation Art & Design students Cresson Wilson, Hazel Brough, Seren Otoole, Sophia Johanning. Supported by Benjamin Greenhalgh, Senior Lecturer and Louise Batchelor, Senior Lecturer.
CATE Roadshows
Facilitated by the CATE-Net Co-ordination Group and the Advance HE Awards Team, these virtual roadshows will offer an overview of the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and guidance on the application process for those interested in applying in 2024. All will include a brief introduction to CATE and an overview of the professional and institutional benefits. The CATE application process will be outlined and there will be practical guidance and suggestions from previous CATE winners, plus time for questions and answers. All three roadshows will be identical (however the third roadshow is aimed at nominations for 2026 and beyond).
