The core Professional Experience Implementation Group at Aston University brings together academic pharmacists (from clinical practice to student support), practising pharmacists, industry partners and technical team expertise. It collaborates with the wider university, partner stakeholders and students to provide students with sustainable contemporary pharmacy experience across a range of sectors.

A relatively newly formed permanent team they are excited and inspired by the different perspectives each colleague contributes that shape their collaborative approaches to ensuring an excellent student experience.

The Personalised Medicine Team at Ulster University brought together specialists from different disciplines in collaborative partnership, prioritising student experience and employability. Their holistic approach, integrating teaching and research, produced agile graduates, responsive to the needs of the sector and has benefitted the local economy through graduate training and job creation.

Warwick Postgraduate Teaching Community

Warwick University

Warwick Postgraduate Teaching Community is a cross-institutional community of practice: a professional learning space and site of advocacy for postgraduate researchers who teach (PGRs), typically PhD students. The team seeks to connect these early career teachers, both supporting and celebrating their unique contribution to Higher Education learning and teaching.

TALENT (Teaching and Learning Enhancement NeTwork)

TALENT, the Teaching and Learning Enhancement NeTwork, is a wide-reaching community of like-minded staff who are passionate about learning and teaching. TALENT creates a space for sharing evidence-based best practices in STEM. It is an interdisciplinary, non-hierarchical, open platform for engagement and discussion in Learning and Teaching.

Climate and Sustainability Education in Initial Teacher Education

The team’s key value is ‘collaboration’, at the heart of sustainability (Lozano, 2007). The collaboration created a mechanism for the team to work together, organically and with a wider team to develop and embed an initial teacher education (ITE) framework for climate and sustainability education across all ITE Programmes.

Research and Innovation in Teacher Education (RITE) is a team of nine academics and two school leaders from professional practice. Their work centres around developing innovative approaches to teacher education, supporting students to acquire essential competencies alongside the secure professional identity needed to prepare them for future employment and practice.

As a staff-student team with collaboration at its heart The University of Manchester Library Student Team (UMLST) has provided inclusive, accessible support for students since 2013. They create inclusive learning resources, lead workshops, shape policies, amplify student voices and foster a welcoming, supportive environment that is felt across the institution.

Health and Wellbeing Academy Get Set Goal

Get Set Goal is an innovative University of Huddersfield community health and wellbeing service providing valuable placements for nursing and allied health students. Led by Clinical Services Manager Sarah Shaw, the team includes operational lead Dr Sarah Batt, Head of Division (Mental Health) Donna Kemp, and Project Officer Hannah Sladdin.

The Fieldcast Team

The Open University

The Fieldcast team have created an authentic, inclusive and engaging method for teaching fieldwork for the environmental sciences. Fieldcasts are live, interactive broadcasts of lecturer-actioned but student-led investigations, allowing students from anywhere in the world to participate and making practical field experiments accessible to students remotely, at scale.

The Minoritised Ethnic Student Collective

University of Salford

The Minoritised Ethnic Student Collective is a vital source of support for minoritised ethnic students encountering race-related challenges at university, providing a psychologically safe space for students to practice speaking out about intersectional racism. At the heart of The Collective are two mantras: “Together we are stronger” and “Silence will not protect”.

Hackathon17

University of Surrey

Hackathons at the University of Surrey, including Sustainability Hackathons and Hackathon17, promote skill development through problem-based learning and interdisciplinary teamwork. Open to all students, these events focus on innovative solutions for UN SDGs, growing in participation and becoming part of the Global Graduate Awards programme, enhancing employability and student-staff collaboration.

They collaborate across institutions to promote playful learning approaches in higher education, inspiring educators and transforming teaching practices by challenging traditional views of play and emphasising its potential for learning.
