New Staff Induction begins
Monday, Aug 4th - Thursday, Aug 7th, 2025
Monday: Meet at 8am at PMS (985 Poquoson Ave). We will have a light breakfast available. Wear comfortable shoes as we will be taking a brief walk! [Lunch provided]
Tuesday: Meet at 7:30am at Tabernacle Church (831 Poquoson Ave) for free breakfast by the Kiwanis of Poquoson. [Lunch provided]
Wednesday: Meet at 8am at PPS (19 Odd Rd) [Lunch on own]
Thursday: Report to your specific building. CPR Training will begin at 9am at PES (1033 Poquoson Ave) [Lunch on own]
Friday: Relax and debrief!
Required Training
As soon as you have your credentials, you can get a head start on state- and federally-mandated training. Access the platform using the link here with your k12 email address and password. Have questions? Training will be provided during pre-service but your ITRT's can answer specific questions!
All New Employees Required Training:
All training must be completed by October 15

Cybersecurity Overview (15 min)
Sexual Misconduct: Staff to Student (37 min)
Sexual Harassment: Staff to Staff (37 min)
Restraint and Seclusion (24 min)
De-Escalation Strategies (22 min)
Student Mental Health: Awareness, Intervention, and Referral (20 min)
Additional Training for Paraprofessionals:
Autism Training provided by VCU
Directions will be emailed but can also be viewed here.
Training must be completed within 30 days.
Final certificates must be emailed to kelly.purdie@poquoson.k12.va.us
CPR Training by PCPS Nurse
Held Thursday, August 7th at PES from 9am-12pm
Paraprofessionals need to be recertified every two years
Training is open to any other staff member who needs it for certification
