2nd grade and up
Big Tree by Brian Selznick
Brimming with humor, wonder, mystery, and a profound sense of hope, Big Tree is a trailblazing adventure, illustrated with nearly 300 pages of breathtaking pictures. It is Selznick's most imaginative and far-reaching work to date and a singular reading experience for the whole family.
The audiobook edition of BIG TREE is brought magnificently to life by Meryl Streep and features music composed by Ernest Troost.
Middle School/YA
If I Stay by Gayle Foreman
In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck.
3rd grade and up
The Wild Robot by Peter Brown
From bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator Peter Brown comes a heartwarming and action-packed novel about what happens when nature and technology collide. A great middle read book to read and compare to the movie debuting on September 27, 2024.
4th Grade and up
Refugee by Alan Gratz
Gratz weaves three refugee stories expertly in this tale, leaving readers racing to figure out how they are connected in the end. This was a favorite read aloud for my 5th graders. I recommend it to middle school readers as well. The audio book is also amazing with different narrators.
