We are excited to introduce our new online space dedicated to keeping families informed and engaged in the growth and development of our Gifted and Talented program. This HUB is designed to provide a wealth of resources, important updates, and a closer look at the opportunities we offer for our gifted learners. Whether you are a current or prospective member of our GT community, we invite you to explore the site for important information on curriculum, enrichment activities, student progress, and ways to stay connected with the program. Together, we can continue to foster an environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.

The Northeast Texas Poetry in Schools contest began nearly 50 years ago, with the Rusk County Poetry Society in Henderson. In order to broaden the reach of the contest, Young Audiences of Northeast Texas took over the project in 2012.
Each year, Arts for Learning Young Audiences accepts nearly 1000 entries from students across Northeast Texas. The contest is open to any 1st-12th grade public, private, or home-schooled student in the area. The contest aims to provide students with the opportunity to express themselves through writing, but also to learn about the art form of poetry and to use language to its fullest potential.
Seize the opportunity to showcase your students' creativity! Submissions will be accepted from February 1 to March 1, 2026. Winners will become published poets in the annual anthology and celebrated in April 2026.
If your child has written a poem that you would like to see submitted for this contest, please email it to apickering@ponderisd.net and I will take care of it!

Spring Super Saturdays are on the way! While the full course catalog is still in the works, the dates have been set. January and February classes will be held at Baylor University in Waco. March and April classes will be at University of Dallas in Irving.
This spring, gifted students will dive into hands-on adventures, explore new passions, and stretch their minds with our signature Baylor TIP weekend learning experience. Stay tuned for the official course lineup… but for now, save the dates and get ready for Saturdays full of curiosity, creativity, and challenge! Knowing that not all Baylor TIPsters can join classes on campus for Super Saturdays, they are also offering some online courses!
More information and registration can be found here.
This is a GREAT opportunity to meet other GT students and participate in some fun learning experiences!
If several students wanted to attend, carpooling might be a great option!
Would you like to know a little more about the Depth and Complexity framework that we will be covering the first 9 weeks of school in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades?
