In this project we have done a lot of experiments and a big research to know how alcohol affects flies. We have learned that more than 70% of our genes are similar to flies genes and that why is a good exemplare to compare with.
The aim of this project was to learn why drosophila melanogaster was a good example to compare it with the humans when it was under the effects of alcohol. After doing experiments with them and analysing how the alcohol made them react when it was in different quantities we could get a conclusion.
First of all we did a research and got all the information that we need it to know about the drosophila. After that we have summarized the information and selected the most important one. A lot of similarities were found with how the flies reacted and how a person usually reacts when they drink alcohol.
Later we started doing the experiments, we did a total of 5 groups of experiments. Each experiment consisted of putting the flies in different quantities of alcohol and see how they reacted. Then we put them in a tube to see how long it took them to reach the line that was 7 centimeters away.
We have learned a lot about Drosophila melanogaster like her anatomy, her habitat, food and ,how long is her life. We have learned that Drosophila is a very good model to study human problems and the scientists use it for all kind of things.
It is perfect because it is cheap and it doesn't take too much space.
