ABSTRACT - MARINA

Our research project is about  the use of Catalan in social media. The aim was to know if Catalan is used by people on social media or not.

This last week we searched for all the information that we needed on many different websites and we created a document to organize all the information that we found. Then, we interview different influencers and we ask them some questions to know more about the issue. We also created two surveys to find out if people use Catalan on social media. One was for the people at school and the other for people in the street.

We observed that Catalan is not used too much and people prefer to use Spanish. People use Catalan for stories or posts, but some of them prefere to use Spanish because they feel more comfortable. Even so, people use Catalan because it is their mother tongue language and because they don't want it to disappear.

In conclusion, Catalan is very important because it's a treasure of all Catalonia. Pepole is able to use it,  but they don't want to, and it is important because it can disappear.

If we keep speaking ,writting, and sharing in Catalan, the language stays alive. Social media can help Catalan, and us as young people, can do it!
