We learned about two different symbols. The Mercy Cross and the Heart of Mercy. We then worked in small groups to make some salt dough and created mercy symbols that we will paint and make into Christmas decorations to share with our families.
Catherine McAuley is a wonderful woman of God who founded the sisters of mercy. As a mercy school we base a lot of our virtues on the acts of mercy. Catherine McAuley is well known for caring for the poor, teaching and taking in children.
To celebrate McAuley day we watched the short film, In God Alone, which shares the story of Catherine McAuley's life. On Catherine's last day she gathered all of the sisters and instructed them to share a cup of tea together to comfort one another.
