Dear Families,
Often when you ask your child about school, the answers are usually it's "good", "fine", or if you ask, "What did you do today?" the answer may be, "Not much!" To help make the conversation with your children more, shall we say more robust, I like to send a list of conversation starters called “Ask Abouts,” which contain specific items that we've learned during the school week. “Ask Abouts” are a wonderful way to engage in meaningful conversations with your children about their school experiences. Some of the prompts are very specific and some may be “What was the most exciting thing you learned this week?” or “Who did you play with during recess?” These open-ended inquiries help to provide you with insight into their academic and social experiences.
Please visit our KA classroom website on Sunday afternoons for weekly updates regarding curriculum focus and pictures of your children in action. Future "Ask Abouts" messages will be posted every week under the Curriculum Recourses tab.
And now, for this week’s Ask Abouts –
Ask your child...

to name the seasons
to tell you why the seasons change (the earth orbits around the sun)
to tell you how long it takes the earth to make one trip around the sun
to tell you in which season the days are shorter/longer
to tell you what the equator is (an imaginary line that divides the earth in half)
to name some emotions (happiness, sadness, frustration, love, excitement, loneliness, worry, disappointment, anger, pride)
to show with their faces or bodies what some of those emotions can look like
to tell you the rhymes we use when writing numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
to tell and show you the sounds and motions for the letters "t", "b” "f" and “m”
