Volunteer Opportunities

Polo Community High School requires 10 community service hours per year to graduate. Please review the volunteer opportunities below. Hours are logged by turning in THIS FORM to the PCHS office. The form is also available in the student resource center outside the office.

Students needing to submit non-calendar hours to Sauk's Impact Program can access the form HERE or grab a copy of the form in the student resource center outside the office. This form needs 

Polo Fire Department Breakfast

When: Saturday, April 27th - Cleanup from 9am-1pm (or however long you can stay)

Sunday, April 28th - Breakfast help from 5am-1pm (show up no later than 6:30am)

Where:  Polo Fire Department, 206 S. Franklin Ave

Description:  Saturday, the fire department is looking for help cleaning the building in preparation for the breakfast the next day. Sunday would involve cleaning tables, refilling condiments, clearing plates, etc.

Polo Police Community Service

When: Saturdays when the weather is nice

Where:  Various houses around town 

Description:  The Polo Police are looking for high school helpers to work with them to do yard work for community members whose yards will be cited for not meeting city code. Students will meet at the police station and ride together to the houses in need of assistance.

How to sign up: email Mrs. Sanders at jsanders@poloschools.net and include your cell phone number so a member of the police department can reach out to you

Granny Rose Animal Shelter

When: Open availability around your schedule

Where:  Granny Rose Animal Shelter, 613 River Lane, Dixon, IL 61021

Description:  You can volunteer at the local animal shelter doing whatever they need done. This may include cleaning cages, playing with animals, walking dogs, feeding, etc.

Child Care

When: May 20 from 5:45pm-7:00pm 

Where:  Centennial Elementary School gym

Description:  watch the children of CPO members during their meeting from 6-7pm

Memorial Day Help

When: May 18th @ 10am and June 1st @ TBD

Where:  Fairmont Cemetary, Polo

Description:  The Polo American Legion and VFW will be placing flags on the headstones of veterans for Memorial Day and would like some help. Set up will be on May 18th and clean up will be on June 1st.

Homework Helpers

When: You will set the days and times

Where: Polo Public Library

Description:  Help elementary students with their homework

Polo Lifeline Food Pantry

When: Saturdays from 9 am-11:15 am

Where: Polo Lifeline Food Pantry, 113 N Green Ave.

Description:  Help show customers around, carry groceries, etc.

How to sign up: No need to set up ahead of time - simply show up on Saturdays

Polo Lifeline Food Pantry

When: By Appointment

Where: Polo Lifeline Food Pantry, 113 N Green Ave.

Description:  Help cleaning (sweeping, mopping, etc.)
