This is a 7th grade life science course. The following topics will be covered this year:
- Science Practices
- Cells
- Genetics & Heredity
- Evolution & Natural Selection
- Diversity of Life
- Ecology
- Body Systems
The following items are required for science class:
- Textbook
- Science Binder (3 sections, notebook paper)
- Pencil (with eraser) and/or Pen (blue or black in only)
- Agenda Book
- Earbuds or headphones
Grades are calculated using weighted category averages.
Tests/Projects = 35%
Quizzes = 25%
Labs = 20%
Homework = 10%
Classwork = 10%
- All assignments must meet the following requirements. Assignments that do not meet these requirements may have points deducted or need to be redone:
- Neatly handwritten or typed
- Completed in pencil or blue/black ink
- Include first name, last name, date, period
- Use complete sentences and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Students must have their homework complete and with them in class the day it is due to receive full credit. Late homework assignments will receive half credit. Late labs will receive an automatic 20 point deduction. Any assignment not received by the end of the marking period will receive a grade of zero.
- Work missed due to absences must be made up in a timely fashion. Excessively late make-up work will result in points being deducted from the grade.
- If a student completes any online assignment after the day it is due (late, absent, etc.), he or she must complete the LATE/MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT FORM to get credit for it.
- Any student who does not demonstrate safe and responsible behavior during labs and group activities will not be permitted to participate in that activity. He or she will be given an alternate assignment to complete.
- Be on time.
- Be prepared for class.
- Be respectful and courteous to others.
- Listen carefully and follow directions.
- Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
- If you need to leave your seat during class you may do so, as long as you are not disruptive to anyone else in the class.
- You must have the teacher's permission, a pass, and sign out before leaving the classroom.
- During a test or quiz, there is to be no talking, cheating or disruptive behavior.
- Cell phones and other electronic devices may not be used in class, except with permission and under supervision of the teacher.
- At the end of class remain seated until you are dismissed by the teacher.
