Restaurants Around Town: Part 2
In this article we will be talking about various restaurants around Plainview, New York. This is an ongoing series and if you would like us to rate a restaurant you have visited, email Ms. Comens or talk to one of your friends in the newspaper club.
Our first restaurant is Dirty Taco. The Dirty Taco has excellent food from different varieties. For an appetizer I highly suggest getting the Korean Nachos. Dirty Tacos food is outstanding and will get a 4.5/5. Dirty Taco is very busy around dinner time. The main room can get very crowded but they do have a tent outside that is very warm and comfortable. The ambiance is 5/5. The service is very quick and they are very friendly to you. The service is 4.7/5. That brings the total to a 4.9/5. I highly recommend you to visit this restaurant and others we rate about.
Our next restaurant is Pastaria. This restaurant is where all the teachers go to get their Italian food. Their food is great. When you walk in they have brick ovens heating up pizzas. It smells so good in that restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly giving 4.7/5. The food is good. However, I think if you go there you should order a salad or a meat rather than pizza to get the full experience. I rate the food 4.5/5. The ambience is nice. It’s a smaller restaurant so it can fill up really fast. I will give it 4.6/5.
The next restaurant I would like to talk about is Moes. Moes is a restaurant that serves Mexican food (tacos, burritos, etc). You can customize what you are ordering with toppings and veggies. Moes’s food is 3.78/5. I would say the food is a little better than average but their hot sauces have a decent amount of spice but I would prefer to use my own. The ambiance is 3/5. It used to be 4/5 when they had AR pictures that you could scan while you wait for your food. And each picture would have an animation play. So overall, Moes is a 3.5/5.
Another restaurant is Japan Express. Japan Express is like Moes or Chipotle but with Japanese food. They serve bento boxes with a combination of food or you could get pasta or meat with rice. The food is 3.5/5. Japan Express has seating but is mostly take-out. You can see them cook all of the food in the back. The ambiance is 3.8/5. The service is quick and the staff are nice. Japan Express gets a 4.5/5.
The Main Event is a sports restaurant. It is where a lot of people go for special events such as birthday parties. The restaurant says it has sushi grade seafood but I have not tried it. The food is 2/5. The food is usually dry and bland though they do have some better options. And the steak is the worst culprit of that. The steak feels like a dry loaf of mystery meat with no flavor. If you go, get the Mexican food, salad, or something that would be on the kids menu like chicken fingers. The ambiance is 2.5/5. It is extremely loud in there with the TVs blasting and kids crying. Sometimes I wish for earplugs. The rows of street signs are not my type. If you like sports and like chicken fingers, go to The Main Event which I rate a 2.3/5.
