Literacy Week: Traveling through Reading
By: Gia Patel
The week of March 3rd, 2025 POBMS had an amazing experience celebrating literacy week! During this week the 5th and 6th graders got the opportunity to enjoy activities supervised by several 7th and 8th grade helpers. These activities included, bingo, creating your own book cover, creating your own chapter in a book, and more. 7th & 8th graders also were also allowed to help decorate the library and read books to our 5th & 6th graders.
In the time of this week we also had an amazing author, Rebecca E. F. Barone, come visit us. She has written a few books such as, “Unbreakable”, “Race to the Bottom of the Earth”, and, “Mountain of Fire”.
In addition to all of this students were given a chance to join a literacy week google classroom in which daily activities were posted. These activities included, researching a place in the world that you want to visit, reflecting our author visit, taking a selfie with your favorite book, and more.
We thank Mrs. Rooney, Mrs. Barone, the other students and the other adults who made it possible for this wonderful week!
