The Crazy Day At School (Part 1)
By Avital Ilyadi
As I was getting ready for my bus, I thought to myself, why are some people so excited to go to school? We do learn so much every school year, but we never have fun! Maybe this time would be different-”Charlie! Your bus is here!” Oh no! How do I tell her that I’m not ready yet because I slept in? Maybe I can skip school today! What was I thinking? Of course I can’t skip school! Mom! Can you just drive me to school today? My mom then responds by saying, “Ok! But this is the last time I am driving you to school! I have work in half an hour!” I then run across my bedroom back and forth finding the perfect outfit, thinking if today was just gonna be a regular day or a fun day.
10 minutes later I was in the car, and ready to drive off to school. On the drive to school, mom always plays some 90s songs. She thinks I like it, but I really don’t. So I just tell her if she could please turn it down and if I can put down my window. I thought today was going to be cold out but the drive to school felt so hot, I thought I was in a sauna.
I think I heard my mom talking to me but I was too distracted by the fact that I have a pop quiz today and I didn’t even remember. “Did you remember to pack all of your stuff?” says mom. I’m pretty sure I did- wait..! Did you pack me lunch today? “Yeah! Of course I did!” she says. I was too afraid to tell her that I left it at home so I just told her that it’s in my backpack and I remembered everything.
By the time I knew it, we arrived at school and when I looked out my window, the doors of the school were closed and I didn't see anyone by the entrance. “Come on Charlie, get out of the car, you're late for school.” says mom. I slowly start to pull my bag and all my stuff out of the car, and yank my heavy bag on one shoulder. I can’t explain how confused I was. Every time I come to school, the doors are packed in front of the entrance. I was shocked. Maybe there wasn’t school today!
