In the face of growing global challenges—climate change, social inequality, conflict, and rapid technological advancement—education systems are being called to do more than deliver academic content. They must cultivate empathy, critical thinking, civic responsibility, and global consciousness. Global Citizenship Education (GCED) offers a transformative framework that empowers learners to contribute meaningfully to a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable world.
The GCC Regional Hubs Summit 2025, with the theme “Promoting Cultures, Connecting Minds, Transforming Futures: Advancing GCED through Whole School Approach,” brings together educators, policymakers, youth leaders, and advocates to reimagine education through a holistic lens. The Whole School Approach (WSA) ensures that GCED is not confined to classroom instruction but embedded in school culture, leadership, policies, and community engagement.
This summit is a collaboration between GCED Cooperation Centre-Philippines and Pangasinan State University, the GCC Regional Hub for Region I. It builds on the regional efforts of GCC Hubs across the Philippines and provides a national platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. Through lectures, parallel sessions, cultural activities, and community immersion, the summit seeks to bridge global goals with local realities—amplifying diverse voices and practices that reflect Filipino values and context.
Ultimately, the GCC Regional Hubs Summit 2025 aims to strengthen partnerships and inspire collective action toward transforming schools into nurturing spaces where global citizenship is lived, practiced, and sustained.
