AP Seminar- AmLit:

Course Description:

The AP Seminar course allows students to investigate real-world topics of their choosing from multiple perspectives, which often are different or competing, as well as learn to collect and analyze information with accuracy and precision, develop arguments based on facts and effectively communicate them.

Course Breakdown

  • team project and presentation (20% of AP Seminar score)

    • individual research report (1200 words) scored by College Board

    • team multimedia presentation and defense (8-10 minutes + questions) scored by teacher

  • individual research-based essay and presentation (35% of AP Seminar score — College Board scored)

    • individual written argument (2000 words) scored by College Board

    • Individual multimedia presentation (6-8 minutes) scored by teacher

    • oral defense (two questions from teacher) scored by teacher

  • end-of-course AP exam (45% of AP Seminar score — College Board scored)

    • analyze an argument using evidence

    • build an argument using two of four sources provided

AP Resource Room

The AP Resource Room (E-36) is available during all advisory periods. Mock and Real TMPs and IMPs will be scheduled during advisory periods. You are also welcome to use the resource room to work with your team or as an individual, ask for peer editing help, and to have a quiet place to research. Please fill out the request form below.
