As part of my Master of Education in Higher and Postsecondary Education program at Arizona State University, I completed my practicum with ASU Career Services. During this experience, I collaborated with higher education professionals to strengthen my understanding of career development, student success, and employer engagement. My practicum allowed me to connect classroom learning with real-world practice while developing resources designed to improve the student experience.
One of my primary projects was creating the School of Mathematicial and Statistical Sciences (SOMSS) Student Career Guide to STEM Careers, a resource designed specifically for students in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. The guide provides information on internship opportunities, career advising, resume and interview resources, professional associations, employment outlooks, and career pathways for students majoring in Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. I also incorporated internship credit information and resources to help students navigate academic and career planning more effectively.
This practicum reinforced my passion for student success by combining academic advising, career readiness, and resource development. It strengthened my ability to create student-centered resources, collaborate across departments, and translate institutional information into practical tools that students can use throughout their academic journey. The experience also enhanced my leadership, communication, and project management skills while preparing me to continue supporting students through innovative career development initiatives.

Project Summary
For this graduate-level assessment project, I developed a comprehensive evaluation plan examining Arizona State University's ALEKS math placement policy for students in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (SOMSS). The project explored whether transfer students should complete the ALEKS assessment regardless of transferred math credit to improve placement accuracy, student success, and retention in STEM programs. The evaluation included a logic model, assessment methodology, data collection plan, ethical considerations, reporting strategies, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
