College Deadlines

*Most colleges are not requiring the SAT or ACT at this time. Check with the colleges to which you are applying to see if they are requiring the tests or if they encourage taking the tests.

So You're Applying to College!

Remember to Follow these Simple Guidelines!

Community College

• Apply by February of your Senior Year.

• The Application is simple.

• You do not need to take your SAT or ACT.

• No Application Essay

Cal State University

• Apply October 1st-November 30th.

• Straight forward application-need to list classes taken.

• Usually requires the SAT Reasoning or ACT, but is test optional for now.

• No application essay.

University of California

• Apply November 1st-November 30th

• More comprehensive application-need to list classes taken, activities, and awards.

• Usually requires SAT Reasoning and two SAT subject tests (from different disciplines) or ACT with Writing, but is test optional for now.

• Application has short answer essays.

Private and Out of State Universities

• Deadlines vary (most are due by mid-January).

• Comprehensive Applications-Need to list classes taken, activities and awards.

• Usually official transcripts need to be sent, as well as letter of recommendation(s).

• Usually requires SAT Reasoning or ACT with Writing and SAT Subject Tests, some are test optional.

• Applications usually have several essays.
