Kindergarten
Coming back from winter break, Kindergarten students will be reviewing locomotor skills that were learned in the beginning of the year. Students will review correct form for running, skipping, hopping, and galloping. Additionally, students will explore ways they can control height and speed while conducting these movements. Kindergarten students will continue to work on developing skills to correctly jump rope.
1st and 2nd Grades
First and second grade students will begin working on a throwing and catching unit. During this unit students will learn proper technique needed to make a correct throw, they will also learn how to use their body to maximize velocity and distance. When catching will learn to track the ball and correctly positioning of hands based on throw location.
First grade students will complete there first Ohio Department of Education assessment of the year at the end of each unit. Data obtained from these students will be collected and sent to the ODE. These units are additionally important for first grade students, as they will complete an SLO at the end of the year to measure growth.
3rd and 4th Grades
Third and Fourth grade students will begin a health and fitness unit that focuses on the components of exercise. Within this unit, each class in these grade levels will complete the 3/4 fitness challenge. In this challenge students will be apart of small teams and will earn points for completing various exercises and fitness tasks. Classes will be ranked according to number of points earns and top teams will be recognized.
