In 2012 the Ohio Department of Education developed a benchmark evaluation system in which students would be assessed on the Ohio Physical Education standards. These assessments are included on a report indicator designated by the state. Physical Education standards in Ohio include components of motor skills, manipulative skills, health-related fitness, and social and personal responsibility.
Assessments are divided into four grade bands and reported when the student reaches the end of the grade band. Below is how grade bands are broken down:
This means that only assessments for second grade students at Tussing Elementary are reported to the ODE. However, students begin mastering these assessments in kindergarten and first grade, as well as, third and fourth grade students preparing for the assessments they will see in 5th grade at the middle school level.
