Description: This Kelvin & Hughes compass sits in a black cylindrical bowl mounted on a swiveling ring with brass gimbals. The dial on top is marked 0-360 degrees in white. Compasses are used for navigation while sailing by showing the direction the ship is currently heading. This compass travelled aboard Mayflower II in 1957 inside the ship's binnacle. After the sail, the compass was removed from the binnacle and housed separately.
