Welcome to room B154! Come on in!
I grew up in Pleasanton. I went to Walnut Grove from kindergarten through 6th. I then attended Harvest Park for 2 years before finishing up my K-12 education at Amador.
I started my teaching career 23 years ago substitute teaching for Pleasanton and Livermore districts. After getting the opportunity to take on a long-term substitute math position at a Livermore middle school, I knew teaching was the career I wanted to pursue.
After earning my credential, I began in Fremont teaching 5th and then 6th grade at an elementary school. I then moved on to a junior high teaching Core (7th grade block). After teaching for 6 years, my husband and moved to Sacramento to be near his family, and I began teaching in Rio Linda where I taught 7th and 8th grade block classes.
In 2014, fate brought me back to where I grew up. I moved back to Pleasanton to help care for my mother who was suffering from dementia. I was hired at Hart to teach 7th grade block and have been here ever since.
In my free time, I enjoy baking and decorating elaborate cookies and cakes. I also love hiking with my family and doing arts and crafts and singing with my kids. When I have the time, I enjoy getting lost in a good book!
If you had told me when I was growing up that, not only would I love to read, but that I would be teaching Language Arts some day, I would never have believed it! I hated reading until I hit middle school, and then something just clicked! I had to find "what" I enjoyed reading.
I have two children who attend Walnut Grove. My daughter is starting 3rd, and my son is starting 5th.
