Mohr 5th Grade Instrumental Music - Note from music teachers
Welcome to 5th grade! As 5th graders, you now have the chance to play a string or band instrument. We have found that 5th -grade students greatly enjoy the chance to learn an instrument. The instrumental music teachers hope you will consider playing one of the choices listed below. We are asking for a commitment through the entire year if you decide to participate in 5th -grade instrumental music. It has been our experience that students that don't spend time spent on their instrument of choice tend to desire to quit. Students that spend time practicing their instruments tend to enjoy playing and desire to remain in the program. We encourage you to envision two things while planning your instrumental participation.
1. Envision yourself practicing regularly. 15-20 minutes a day at the beginning of the year is a good guideline.
2. Be prepared for sounding less than stellar at the beginning (you will sound like dying farm animals). Once again, we are emphasizing finishing what you started. We want you to succeed in instrumental music.
The choices of string instruments are:
Violin Viola Cello
Mr. Borris and the brass instrument choices are:
Trumpet Trombone Percussion
Mr. Pedroni and the woodwind choices are:
Flute Clarinet Saxophone
The first week of school we will demonstrate the instrument choices. The second week of school we will meet in our groups without instruments. The third week of school we will begin with instruments.
Thank you,
Jason Borris and Jonathan Pedroni
