Harvest Park Physical Education is all about giving our students ample opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities. We try to center in on the importance of being a "good teammate", "knowing how to lead", and "knowing how to take feedback/direction from your peers". In light of this, we emphasize how to cooperate and collaborate in SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE sided games. Ultimately, we hope our students gain a solid foundation on how to apply the skills they learn in PE to everyday life.
Each unit has a variety of state standards imbedded in them. Units are usually comprised of lead-up skills-based activities, culminating in games and competition. The overarching goals we ensure our students are exposed to are as follows:
Students demonstrate the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
Students demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
Students assess and maintain a level of physical fitness to improve health and performance.
Students demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies to improve health and performance.
Students demonstrate and utilize knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activity.
Attend class regularly
Pay attention and participate to the best of your ability
Put forth effort during ALL activities - AVOID MINIMAL EFFORT AT ALL TIMES
Communicate directly with teacher should issues arise
Respect others and respect the game (rules)
Collaborate effectively no matter the size of group setting
