We farewell the last days of Autumn! This year is certainly flying by.
As the leaves change in Armidale, we’re inspired to reflect on how the Old Girl’s Union can evolve. With thousands of members, there’s incredible potential to grow participation and shape our future together.
Purpose of Our Group
The world has changed, and so have the ways we connect. As we look to the future of the Union, we ask—how can it continue to bring meaning to its members? Beyond reminiscing, could it be a space for encouragement, collaboration, and support? We’re also working to gain access to and rebuild our contact lists, but based on the participation we’ve seen, we wonder if we’re missing the mark. Are we reaching the right people? Are members looking for something different?
If our purpose needs refining, could a rebrand help? We’re open to fresh ideas and want to hear what would make the Union a valuable, engaging space. Please let us know here.
Reunion 2025
Our reunion is coming up on August 23/24, and we’d love for it to gain momentum as a great way to reconnect! As a small volunteer group, we’re happy to facilitate the weekend—but we also want to gauge interest. Please RSVP soon if you plan to attend (everyone is welcome!) so we can finalize events based on numbers.
Committee 2026
The AGM is approaching, and with it, a chance for fresh leadership! Our dedicated committee members have served for years and are looking to pass the reins in 2026 or 2027. If you have time to help shape connections within our community, we’d love for you to get involved.
The commitment is manageable—currently, we oversee four newsletters per year (which could be streamlined to a single Green Tartan edition), the reunion, and a Christmas catch-up. Many hands make light work, but again, participation is key. So if you are looking to expand your social circle or learn new skills and have some delicious food, please get in touch.
This has been a very long President’s Pen. If you are still reading at this point, thank you!
As a parting gift, I leave you with this personal update. in January, Ben and I welcomed our second daughter, Adelaide. She is now 4 months old and to her delight has her first tooth. She is much loved by her sister Grace who smothers her at every available opportunity and is devoted to showing her the world (“look Adelaide, magpie!”, “look Adelaide, swings!”). I have included a photo of us enjoying the sun and sand at the coast.
We look forward to hosting the 2025 PLC Armidale Reunion. Exciting news for the '75, '05, and '15 alumnae - your milestone reunions are on the horizon!
Please RSVP as soon as possible to guide us in what events are required.

PLC Armidale’s archive holds a rich collection of school history—uniforms, speech day booklets, drama props, scripts, correspondence, administration records, and countless photos, all sorted by year and topic. We’re exploring digitization as a project to share these treasures with Old Girls beyond Armidale.
Below are some recent photos taken from the archives that we thought you might enjoy, and some of you might even recognise!
Recently we have had some Old Girls contact us in the hope that we will be able to link them up with girls from their years.
• 1985 Reunion Year- Particularly anyone looking to organise a reunion this year
• 1972 - Form IV- Particularly remembers Gillian Arthur & Robin McLennan and others
• 1970 - Years 11 & 12 - Particularly Business Studies
If you are from these year groups, please reach out to us via email or on Facebook.
Growing Connection & Contact Details
Looking to connect? Ideas like a running group, book club, or mother’s group could bring us together. If you can help organize a low-time commitment club, reach out!
We’re keen to build a digital contact list to help members reconnect. If you’d like to join, please fill out the form below and let us know your preferences for sharing details.
If you have changed your contact details or been forwarded this newsletter by a friend, you can update your contact details with us directly or through the following link: https://forms.gle/HpdHFe56PjtQjttq8
We are also able to print and post the Green Tartan for any alumnae who do not use email. If you know of someone who may be interested, please contact us.
