The seventh graders began the 4th quarter exploring some emotionally charged topics facing our world today in the Hot Topic Unit. The kids were grouped for Literature Circles according to the books that they were most interested in reading. Some of the titles were, The Hate U Give, I'll Give You the Sun, Monster, Dairy Queen, and Ship Breaker. The issues we discussed ranged from environmentalism and animal cruelty to LGBTQ rights and police brutality. The final assessment of the unit produced some well written essays with great emotion!
