PHS seniors are invited to kick off their final year at Plainfield High School with Senior Sunrise on Friday morning.
Come early, grab some pictures with your classmates, watch the sun come up, and make one of the first memories of your senior year together.
This is the first of many moments we hope the Class of 2027 will enjoy together this year. Before we know it, we’ll be gathering again for Senior Sunset.

The PHS PTO welcomes the Class of 2030 to the Freshman Tailgate on Friday, August 21, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the Fieldhouse!
Enjoy food, games, prizes, and Quaker spirit before the football game. Each freshman will also receive a free game ticket! 🏈
*Reminder: Backpacks cannot be brought into the game.

School picture days are scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 for students in grades 9–10 and Thursday, August 27 for students in grades 11–12.
PHS families will have the opportunity to purchase picture packages if they choose by using the link below. Each student’s picture code was included in the ParentSquare message sent to families from Mr. Schwanekamp.

Students who are currently enrolled in a Spanish class are invited to come and learn about an unforgettable trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos in June 2027. The parent informational meeting is on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00pm in room E208. Come and find out about this once in a lifetime trip!

Help Shape the Next Generation of Civic Leaders
Do you have a passion for government, law, the Constitution, or civic engagement? Plainfield High School is seeking community volunteers to support two programs that give students authentic experiences in civics and the legal profession.
We the People
Our nationally recognized We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution program has represented Indiana at the National Finals in Washington, D.C., for the past three consecutive years. Students participate in simulated congressional hearings while developing skills in constitutional studies, research, critical thinking, and public speaking.
We welcome attorneys, judges, educators, public officials, military veterans, civic leaders, and community members interested in government or the Constitution. Volunteers can:
🔺Speak with students about constitutional issues, law, or government
🔺Judge practice congressional hearings
🔺Mentor one of our six competition units
No prior We the People experience is required—guidance and materials will be provided.
Mock Trial
Plainfield High School is launching its Mock Trial program this year! Students will prepare and present a simulated court case while learning courtroom procedures, legal reasoning, witness examination, and trial advocacy.
We are especially seeking attorneys, judges, law students, professors, and others with legal experience to help students prepare, practice courtroom skills, and serve as practice judges or evaluators.
Whether you can volunteer once, mentor throughout the season, or simply share your expertise, your time can make a lasting impact.

One of our goals at Plainfield High School is to create classrooms where students are fully engaged with their teachers, classmates, and learning. We want students asking questions, participating in discussions, collaborating with one another, and building meaningful relationships. Those moments become much harder when attention is divided by a device.
On July 1, Indiana's new statewide electronic device law went into effect. Plainfield High School has already made tremendous progress over the past several years in reducing distractions caused by cell phones, and we are proud of the positive impact that work has had on our classrooms. The new law provided an opportunity to create an even more consistent expectation for every student throughout the school day.
Beginning this school year, personal electronic devices, including cell phones, earbuds, headphones, tablets, gaming systems, and similar devices, must be powered off and stored in a student's backpack from 8:05 a.m. until 3:05 p.m. Students are encouraged to leave these devices at home if they are not needed before or after school.
When parents need to communicate with their student during the school day, we encourage using school email as the first option when appropriate. If a more immediate message is needed, please call the PHS Main Office, and we will promptly deliver it to your student.
Our goal is not simply to limit distractions. It is to create an environment where students are fully present, build stronger relationships, and make the most of every school day.

Congratulations: Quakers join state robotics board
We are proud to celebrate Abigail Langford and Blake Jones, who have been selected to serve on the 2027–2028 FIRST Indiana Student Board of Directors!
The FIRST Indiana Robotics Student Board is a prestigious statewide leadership program made up of just 24 high school students. These student leaders represent their peers and help shape the future of FIRST robotics throughout Indiana.
Throughout the year, Abigail and Blake will have opportunities to develop their leadership and communication skills, serve as ambassadors at robotics competitions and outreach events, provide student perspectives on FIRST Indiana initiatives, advocate for STEM education at the Statehouse, and collaborate with students, educators, volunteers, business leaders, and community partners from across the state.
Their selection recognizes their leadership potential, commitment to service, and dedication to STEM and the FIRST robotics community. We are incredibly proud to see these two Quakers representing Plainfield High School on a statewide stage!
Congratulations, Abigail and Blake! We can't wait to see all you accomplish in this exciting opportunity.

*There will be an important meeting during SMART on Aug. 26th to review aspects of applying colleges, scholarships, letters of recommendation, Common App, etc.
*Also, look for your Fall Grad report coming soon with a summary of where you stand for graduation.

PHS PTO: Freshman Tailgate & Spirit Day Donations
The Plainfield High School PTO is excited to welcome the Class of 2030 at this year's Freshman Tailgate! Incoming freshmen are invited to join the fun on Friday, August 21, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the Fieldhouse before the football game. Students can enjoy food, games, prizes, and plenty of Quaker spirit while meeting classmates and kicking off their high school journey. Best of all, each freshman will receive a free ticket to the football game!
The PTO is also thrilled to continue its popular Spirit Days throughout the school year. Once a month, students will have the opportunity to enjoy treats during lunch and enter a drawing to win a gift card giveaway sponsored by the PTO. Spirit Days will also encourage students to show their Quaker pride while recognizing and celebrating our outstanding teachers and staff.
These events are made possible through the incredible generosity of our PHS families and community. The PTO is currently seeking donations of individually wrapped candy and gift cards to help make Spirit Days a success. If you would like to contribute, please sign up using this donation link and drop off your donated items at the PHS Front Office by Monday, August 31.

Support the Quakers and save at the gate by purchasing an All Sports Pass for the 2026–2027 school year! Passes provide admission to regular-season home athletic events and can be purchased using the online purchase link or by contacting Tammy Ford via email. (tammyford@plainfield.k12.in.us)
Please note that All Sports Passes do not include admission to tournaments, sectionals, regionals, or other IHSAA tournament events. Previous passes will also not be accepted at games.
