Library Policy & Schedule

Eastplain Book Selection Policy
Students in Grades K-5 have the opportunity to check out books once a week when they come to Library Class. Books are due back the following week when your child's class has library again (see schedule below). Books can be renewed up to 2 times or longer if requested. Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade may take out 1 book each week. Students in 2nd Grade and up may select up to 2 books per week. Pre-K students will visit library once a week for fun read-alouds and activities; book check-out begins in Kindergarten.

Students are encouraged to learn responsibility by taking care of their books and returning borrowed items when they are due. Overdue notices are sent weekly at the end of each class as only a reminder. However, students should never feel bad if they forget their book; it happens to everyone! We ask that they bring their books in the next day or by the next library class, as only 1-2 books are permitted to be checked out at one time.

If your book is lost, we wait a few weeks just in case it turns up. If it’s indeed lost, we will send a notice home with your child with the replacement cost of the book. Please make out a check (not cash) to Plainedge School District and send it back in with your child.
